Hello Readers!

This week, we’re digging our way out of the biggest blizzard to hit New Jersey in years. The snow is bright and beautiful, but like many of you, I am entirely over it. I’m longing to step outside into a world of green. Being stuck inside due to icy conditions along with university closures have challenged my intention to get off the internet and reclaim an embodied life this year.

A few weeks ago, I wrote this about reclaiming the embodied life:

“The idea of an analog life is intriguing, but an entirely analog life is too big of a leap for me. However, I want to reclaim living in my body and gain control of my attention. I want mere loving to be my life’s work. I want to act and create and connect with purpose and intention, in my body, not through a screen. I’ve been asking myself what’s possible as I hold this tension.”

Then multiple snowstorms blew through, Michael traveled for six days, and many of my tutoring shifts were cancelled. Boredom, a lot of alone time, plus a little anxiety left me reaching for my phone more than I had hoped this month.

Instead of making myself wrong for it, I decided to make a list of what I’m already getting right in my efforts to live a more embodied life. If you’re also looking to return to a little bit more analog time so you can pay closer attention to your real life, choose a practice from this list and give it a whirl.
