Last weekend, I spent 48 hours with my friend Tara on our spring bookcation, and it marked the only time I left one of our weekends feeling like I hadn’t read enough. Instead of tucking into our books on Friday evening (me: The Spirit of Justice by Jemar Tisby and Tara: The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis), we watched the Artemis II return to Earth alongside so many of you. We never turn the TV on during our seasonal reading getaways, but this hopeful, awe-inspiring, wonder-evoking, science-soaked event had us glued to the screen with our Starbursts (it just felt right) and a glass of wine.
We’re both Gen Xers who watched the Challenger disaster as children, and it left a lasting mark. I chose not to watch the Artemis II blast off on live TV, waiting to watch the replay a few minutes later, but I wasn’t about to miss the re-entry of this incredible crew after spending ten days glued to their reports from space.
